Storytime: A meal ticket for babymama
You know that not all Chinese Malaysians have money, right? There's forgotten the class of Chinese in Malaysia who struggle and work hard to make what little money they can as a cleaning lady/ hawker/ shop assistant so that their kids can at least get an education? These are the struggling Malaysian Chinese people who will vote for a Chinese opposition party no matter what.
Now, storytime:
Once Upon a Time, in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There lived a single mother like this poor Auntie who works as a cleaner in a small KL evangelical church- She made ends meet to bring up her daughters all alone. π’
Thanks to the church, she has a support system around her.
This Auntie's daughters grow up pretty, went to school (not college level) & now make their own money. As marketing execs, nail salon beauticians, wedding photographers etc etc.
One day, one of these 3 pretty daughters meets and dates a small town towkey's spoilt brand-loving son who does nothing but drive an expensive sports car, date pretty girls like her & wait around for his Dad to kick the bucket so that he'll inherit the family business.
To his parents (towkey and towkey neo), he's a filial chinese son who helps out in the family business in the meantime & spends their money. Or "his" money. Or whatever. Or sponges off their wealth. They forgive him for everything because he's going to be the one who will look after them when they're old. They're betting on HIM, not their other children, who are more successful.
Suddenly, this pretty daughter of a church cleaning lady accidentally/on purpose gets pregnant. This is a way to escape her life. This is her best bet at a future. This is her best career move yet. π They have an expensive showy extravaganza wedding. Her dream come true wedding.
At this wedding, they have to open the guests' and relatives' angpows to help pay for venue.
She has the shotgun baby boy and the small town taukey & taukey-neo love this child to bits. She immediately pops out a few more babies between making more money as a photographer to support her new habit of buying luxury goods which she used to have to save hard for before. After all, she doesn't have to break her back like her mother did. Her In-Laws pay for her kids & her plan is working out. π
She's feeling really clever/ blessed/ lucky. From her starting point/ her very low level that she began with, she thinks she's made it. π
Applause please. ππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌ
