Chinese New Year

I have Malaysian Chinese (loosely defined because one of them can't speak any cantonese or mandarin- it's the one who isn't a politician) parents. So here I am. In Kuala Lumpur for CNY. After spending a few days in hell with my uber Chinese Malaysian in the small sleepy uber Chinese Malaysian InLaws, here we are. In the Damansara Heights hood.

KL during CNY is super quiet. Most young Chinese people who live it up in KL and make KL the showy city that it is come from those sleepy little towns in other states of Malaysia. And they go home to their sleepy little hometowns and leave a nice peaceful (tasteful) void in KL. I love it.

If only people like my inlaws would stop coming to KL for CNY.
