Chinese New Year

I have Malaysian Chinese (loosely defined because one of my parents can't speak any cantonese or mandarin- it's the one who isn't a politician of course. My husband calls me Western trash.) parents. So here I am. In Kuala Lumpur for CNY. After spending the mandatory first few days in hell in the small sleepy uber Chinese Malaysian town with InLaws, doing Chinese Malaysian things, here we are. Back in my Damansara Heights 'hood.

KL during CNY is super quiet. Most young Chinese people who live it up in KL and make KL the showy city that it is, come from those small sleepy little towns in other states of Malaysia. They go home and leave a nice peaceful (tasteful) void in KL. I love it.
